I figured this graphic tee was the perfect choice for this post! Because February 17th is National Random Acts of Kindness Day!! In fact, it’s Random Acts of Kindness WEEK throughout the entire week!
And folks… kind IS cool. It really, really is!
Do you remember a moment when your spirits were lifted by something that somebody else did or said? Or maybe you simply remember the way it made you feel… all warm and fuzzy on the inside?
YOU have the power to do this to others!
Imagine for a second if everybody in your neighborhood did a few random acts of kindness in the next week.
…what if everybody in your town did it?
…what if everybody in your state did it?
Do you get the picture? We would live in such a happier place!
It’s absolutely amazing to think that your act of kindness could impact the quality of someone else’s day. Now that’s powerful.
Check out these simple ideas that are super easy to incorporate into your every day to make someone else smile!
1. Adopt an animal from the pound.
2. After using the vending machine, leave your change for the next person.
3. Babysit for free. (ex: a family member, a neighbor, or a new mommy)
4. Bake cookies for someone. (ex: local police or fire department, teachers at a local school, co-workers, neighbors, etc.)
5. Be hospitable. Host a dinner or get together for family or friends.
6. Be punctual.
7. Bring a meal to someone in need.
8. Buy something from someone who’s trying to sell something. (ex: a neighbor selling Girlscout cookies, a kid’s lemonade stand, a co-worker who also has a side business, etc.)
9. Compliment your waiter on a napkin before leaving.
10. Compliment yourself when you look in the mirror. (Yep, gotta be nice to yourself too!)
11. Do the chore that nobody else wants to do.
12. Donate blood.
13.Β Donate items you no longer want or need.
- Blankets to a homeless shelter.
- Children’s books to a local school.
- Canned goods to a local food bank.
- Clothes to a local church.
- Luggage to a foster shelter.
- Pet items to an animal shelter.
14. Donate money to a charitable cause.
15. Don’t complain today.
16. Email your child’s teacher and tell him/her specific reasons why you and your child appreciate him/her. (*Don’t forget the principal, counselor, resource teachers, electives teachers, & anyone else who might apply!)
17.Β Encourage somebody.
18. Every time you walk through a door today, be intentional about holding it open for at least one other person.
19. Fill up a family member’s gas tank.
20. Find a way to help a co-worker.
21. In a parking lot, push shopping carts back to the holder. (Or if you see someone finishing up with one, ask to take it back for them.)
22. Insert coins into a parking meter.
23. Leave a dollar bill hidden in a library book, hidden somewhere at the dollar store, or on a random windshield under the wipers.
24. Leave extra diapers on the diaper changing station in the restroom.
25. Leave the closer parking spots for someone else. Park further out. (Plus, you’ll get extra steps in! It’s a win-win!)
26. Leave your waiter a generous tip.
27. Let someone else choose first.
28. Let someone go in front of you at the store or in your lane while driving.
29. Make a music playlist for a friend.
30. Offer to drive when going out with friends.
31. Pick up trash in a public place.
32. Read to kids at a foster care shelter.

36. Serve at your church.
37. Share. What do you have each day that you could share with others?
38. Sign up for a charity walk/run.
39. Smile at EVERYBODY you see today. (Your cheeks should be hurting something fierce by the end of the day! π)
40. Support a local small business by shopping with them instead of with a big chain restaurant/store.
41. Tell your child/children a specific reason why you’re proud of them.
42. Tell your parents that you love them.
43. Thank people throughout the day for specific reasons so they know why they are appreciated. (ex. friends, family, people in customer service, etc.)
44. Tip someone at a place that people normally wouldn’t tip at.
45. Volunteer at a local charity.
46. Whatever it is that you’re talented at… find a way to donate that or use it to help someone else!
47. While going through a drive-thru today, pay for the person behind you.
48.Β Write a positive review online after trying a new product, eating at a restaurant, etc.
49. Write handwritten notes and mail them to your besties or people who are important to you. (Or send emails/texts but a handwritten note might WOW them more!)
50. Write happy post-it notes for the people in your home. Put them in their lunchbox, on their mirror, or in their backpack. These could be a compliment for a child, a love letter for a spouse, or a joke to make a family member laugh.
Random acts of kindness are things you can do to make the world a better place.
